This model is the successor to Canon’s popular A620. In fact it is one of the best models to buy in the Canon’ increasingly well-specified budget A series. Compared to its predecessor this new model has got a bit of facelift and other improved characteristics like a bigger screen, major pixel boost (up from 7MP to 10MP) among the other feature tweaks. Nonetheless the camera is much similar in functionality to the A620 model.
In fact it has the same features like a 4x zoom lens, tilt and swivel LCD, full photographic control and optional converter lenses. Also in a fashion quite similar to its predecessor, the A640 was launched with an almost identical twin, the A630. The only major difference between these two models is that it has a sensor 8MP as opposed to 10MP. Some of the characteristic or key features of this model include 10.0 million effective pixels and a 35-140mm (equiv.) 4x zoom lens . The camera utilizes the DIGIC II, iSAPS, 9-Point AiAF, FlexiZone AF/AE technology. With a Digital Tele-Converter and Safety Zoom the camera calls for an outstanding picture quality replete with details. The model has a 2.5-inch vari-angle LCD and real-image optical viewfinder that adds to its functionality. With 21 shooting modes including a 1cm macro mode as well as a Optional wide and tele converter lenses , this camera is one that is a must buy for all photography lovers.

Nice review, Canon seems to have made their cameras really easy on the eye. I was using Canon powershot A450, that went bad after almost 3 years. Now it seems its really tough getting it fixed. I hope this one is a bit better, I will be getting this one when I get a chance.Found your review on rambhai
